Check AvailabilityIf you are heading south from Newcastle looking for somewhere to stay that is not a hotel room or a caravan park, this is it. Unwind Escapes is about an hour down the M1, set in a valley between the Central Coast and the Hunter Valley wine region. You are 45 minutes from Tyrrell's and Brokenwood, close enough for a day trip to the vineyards but without the Hunter Valley price tag. Four unique stays on a private property surrounded by redwood forest, native bush, and a pine grove that looks like it was dropped in from Canada. Pet-friendly, solar-powered, and genuinely quiet.

View & bookBetween the Coast and Wine Country
The property sits at the southern end of the Hunter region in the Dooralong Valley — a pocket of bushland and farmland that most people drive past on the M1 without knowing it exists. It is the kind of spot where you can do a morning wine tasting at a Hunter Valley cellar door and be back by the fire pit before sunset. The landscape is a mix of Australian bush, a grove of dawn redwood trees, and a pine forest that genuinely looks like British Columbia. Kangaroos come through at dusk, the horses are in the paddock next door, and at night the stars are properly dark-sky visible.
- 45 minutes to Hunter Valley wineries — day trips without the overnight price tag
- Redwood grove and pine forest for walks between tastings
- Wide-open cricket oval surrounded by mountains
- Kangaroos, wallabies, and resident horses on the property
- Dark skies for stargazing after a day in wine country
- 100% solar-powered and eco-friendly
- Free Starlink WiFi — firewood and s'mores kits available from the on-site shop
